Description
This course provides students with a rigorous and practice-oriented understanding of the European Union legal framework governing blockchain technology and crypto-assets. It focuses on the regulatory environment shaping blockchain ecosystems, with particular emphasis on the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), anti-money laundering requirements, and the EU DLT Pilot Regime. Students learn to classify different types of crypto-assets, understand issuer obligations and white-paper requirements, and analyze the regulatory responsibilities of crypto-asset service providers. The course also addresses legal aspects of smart contracts, decentralized autonomous organizations, digital identity, and dispute resolution mechanisms within blockchain environments. The main strengths of the course include its strong alignment with current EU regulatory developments, its practical orientation toward compliance and risk management, and its integration of legal analysis with technological and business considerations.
