The course aims at approaching blockchain technology and its applications through the use of tools from game theory. It introduces the fundamental concepts of blockchain systems and game theory, focusing on strategic interactions among participants in decentralized networks. Key topics include Nash equilibrium, repeated games, and their applications to blockchain security, mining mechanisms, and cryptocurrency ecosystems. While the lectures will present the essential of theories, the focus will rather lie in applications in security and cryptocurrencies.Through case studies, and project-based seminars, students analyze real-world blockchain scenarios and apply data analysis tools to interpret complex datasets. The main strengths of the course include its strong theoretical foundation, integration of game theory with blockchain analysis, and emphasis on critical thinking and applied analytical methods.
